Insects, spiders, mites, ticks, scorpions, centipedes, millipedes, crabs, shrimps, lobsters, sow bugs and many others belong in the phylum Arthropoda, which means jointed foot or appendage. Arthropods compromise the largest group in the animal kingdom, making up almost 90 percent of all known animal species.
